Rotator Cuff Therapy to a Pain Free, Fully Functional Shoulder

A good rotator cuff therapy should consist of several key exercises that can help accelerate recovery and healing times. There are several reasons why something could go wrong with the rotator cuff, like injury as in a fall, or repetitive movements leading to stress and inflammation of the cuff. Individuals over 40 are more susceptible to this kind of painful and restrictive condition, but not only. Once inflammation and pain set in, attention should be taken in choosing what rotator cuff therapy should be followed for a full and quick recovery.

This is paramount for the shoulder, even more so than any other joint because of the complexity of the rotator cuff structure. Due to the vast range of motion allowed to the upper arm, the shoulder joint is by its own very nature shallow, hence nature has evolved a system of four muscles connecting the top of the arm with the surrounding shoulder bones to prevent the arm from becoming dislodged during any movement. While the deltoid provides the main power to arm motion, the rotator cuff underneath it makes sure to keep it in place.

The fact that we use arms all the time in our daily activities does not help for a prompt recovery to begin with. It is common for people affected by rotator cuff inflammation or frozen shoulder to take ages to recover, many months or even a year or more, leading many sufferers to consider micro surgery. This is in most cases unnecessary, because it is possible to reduce the inflammation and speed up recovery with the proper rotator cuff therapy and a set of exercises that can turn the shoulder to its original flexible state.

Having experienced myself, I know it is no fun waking up in the night with a painful shoulder, steer the car wheel with great discomfort, being unable to shampoo your air with your affected arm and to suffer from a limited range of motion in every mundane task. If I ever had to have an inflamed joint again, I’d rather choose a knee or an ankle if I could, since I could go by resting my leg whenever possible. This is only my personal opinion, of course, but it is only when inflammation strikes at the rotator cuff that you realize how frequently you need to use your arm, how impaired you are, and how much you miss your original condition that so much you took for granted.
