Destroy the Competition With Your Half Guard

Whoever you can be there, here is some assistance to those beginning their own tournament journey in BJJ: RELAX – Easier in theory and something I should practice rather then preach. Look, it’s your first tournament; you are nervous. If you are typically a nervous individual anyway then you will find there’s good chance days before the event you may begin to feel butterflies. Nevertheless don’t worry, as soon as the match starts that all disappears completely. You are finally able to unleash all that pent up nervous energy. And whatever the outcome you will for no reason be as nervous whenever you were for that primary fight. ROLL LIKE YOU WILL BE IN CLASS – Rest on the fundamentals. Clear your mind and just let your instincts control. Whether you have recently been training bjj for just two months or 2 years believe in what you have learned and work with it. The person across from you is not super-human. They go to class, train, sweat, and make mistakes exactly. He or she is another training partner together with training partners are there that you learn and improve ones jiu jitsu. A tournament is one giant learning experience in fact. TECHNIQUE – Use that. Don’t use strength! Between your nerves and your adrenaline should you use power unwisely you will be gassed in less than 2 minutes. Don’t go nuts. Don’t waste all your pushing and pulling your opponent all around the mat. Use the techniques you’ve got learned. If you are comfortable going for a takedown or throw – go for it. If you hate being on your feet, pull guard together with play your game. Just don’t waste unnecessary electrical power. The adrenaline dump from successfully completing your first ever tournament fight be it a win or a loss will do to suck all the reserve energy you might have had. You will probably have a few fight so save which energy! EXPECT TO LOSE – You might be thinking, “What is your dog nuts? That is a douche-bag thing to speak about. ” But what I mean is, don’t worry about the outcome. It is your first fight. It is your first time experiencing all the sights and sounds of a BJJ tournament. Your instructor and your teammates aren’t going to be let down if people lose. You are there “man-ing up” (and also “woman-ing up”). What are your friends and relations doing? Probably sitting to the couch eating Pringles watching The Bachelor. Renzo is a first Gracie to ever before award a black belt for a student in America. His student has gone on to be a UFC legend. He awarded the belt to Shiny Serra. Renzo has also helped prepare UFC welterweight success Georges St-Pierre. His last fight was at April of 2010, in the first show in Abu Dhabi, next to Matt Hughes, which he lost inside final minute of the third round. The Gracie family comes with inspired thousands of people around the world to train in the style that their ancestors produced. .The Half Guard is an intricate position with several details. You can easily begin to improve your half defend game. When I began learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu this Half Guard was mostly a defensive position.
